It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lloyd L. Essmann, who entered his eternal home on June 27th, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born in Lewiston, Minnesota, Lloyd dedicated his life to serving others through his calling in ministry and his passion for elementary education. His journey of service continued through his time in the United States Army, where he was blessed to experience the rich cultures and landscapes of Europe. Later in life, Lloyd found his home in the American Southwest, where he spent many cherished years exploring the region's beauty and building lasting friendships.
Lloyd will be remembered as a devoted father, cherished grandfather, loving uncle, and faithful friend. A steadfast member of the Lutheran faith, he lived his beliefs through acts of kindness and service to his church community. Those who knew Lloyd will forever treasure his distinctive sense of humor, his captivating stories, and the warmth he brought to every gathering.
Lloyd leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy: his children Cheryl, Sarah (Bob), and John (Shelli); his adored grandchildren Nicole, Andrea, Grace, and Charlie; his great-grandchildren Savannah and Keagan; and his dear sister-in-law Sharon. He also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Sadie Essmann, his brothers Harold (Ruth) and Wayne, and his sister Phyllis (Dean).
As we remember Lloyd's remarkable life, we find comfort in the words that guided him:
"Be strong and of good courage… for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
Joshua 1:9
Lloyd's courage, faith, and love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
