Waunakee

Lloyd F. Dresen, born on March 2, 1938, passed away on December 7, 2025. He was the son of John G. Dresen and Amilia (Molly) Koch, and a proud graduate of Middleton High School, Class of 1957.

On June 23, 1962, Lloyd married Margeret (Marge) Wipperfurth, the love of his life. Their marriage was filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. They have three children, Cheryl, Bob and Kim.

He was also a longtime member of St. Bernard Parish in Middleton.

Lloyd served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 to 1961, an experience he carried with honor. In 2023, he was deeply moved and grateful to take part in the Badger Honor Flight, a moment that meant the world to him.

He spent more than 40 years as the Manager of Schmidt’s Auto on Meffert Road, where he built countless friendships, especially with Norbert Schmidt, whom he considered a dear friend.

Lloyd’s heart was fullest when he was with his family. He cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews. His gentle ear-and-nose “tweak,” a playful gesture his loved ones knew well, will remain a treasured memory.

He loved the time spent “Up North” at their second home in Big Flats (1971–2020)—sharing laughter, stories, and a few beers around the fire pit. One of his favorite traditions was the annual Labor Day “Kraut Feed”, a highlight not only for him but for everyone who joined.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially deer hunting with his son, grandsons and nephews, and he loved sharing fishing tips with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sports were also apart of Lloyd’s life. In high school he wrestled and played football, and he carried a lifelong passion for baseball. He played CYO, Home Talent, and Old Timers Slow Pitch, continuing well into his late 60s. After finally retiring his glove and cleats, he loved watching his grandchildren carry on the tradition in Home Talent and softball.

He also enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, and shuffleboard, finding joy in the friendly competition and camaraderie they offered.
