Lisa Lynn Niederwerfer

Lisa Lynn Niederwerfer, age 62, passed away on August 11, 2026, after courageously battling a lifelong illness. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family and the love of her life, Brian Mateicka.

Lisa was born on March 12, 1964, and was raised by her parents, Larry and Kathleen Niederwerfer, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Brian Niederwerfer; her grandparents, Otto and Eva Niederwerfer; and her grandfather, Gilbert Schroeder.

Lisa graduated from Jefferson High School in 1982.

Lisa lived her life with determination, strength, and a spirit that refused to be defined by her disability. She never allowed the challenges she faced to keep her from living life to the fullest. She valued every opportunity to spend time with the people she loved and made sure those moments were never brief. A visit or conversation with Lisa was rarely a quick one—family interaction meant the world to her, and she wanted to enjoy every minute of it.

Above all else, Lisa loved her family. She treasured the conversations, laughter, stories, and time spent together. Her strength and determination throughout her life were an inspiration to those who knew and loved her.

Lisa is survived by the love of her life, Brian Mateicka, who remained by her side and shared companionship, and memories that meant so much to her; her brothers Jon (Robin) Niederwerfer, Marc (Maria)Niederwerfer. Her nieces and nephew Ben, Emma, Nanna, McKenzie, and Isabella.

Lisa will be remembered not for the limitations placed before her, but for the way she refused to let those limitations define her life. She loved deeply, valued her family fiercely, and made every conversation and every visit count.

Her family will forever carry with them the memories of her strength, her personality, her determination, and most of all, her love.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Rock River Nursing and Rehab in Fort Atkinson for the care and compassion they provided to Lisa.

Lisa also wanted to extend a very special thank you to several people who became close to her heart: Ashley H., Arissa, Latrice, Kylie, Amanda G., Donna, Deb R., Deb K., Lorey, Shawn, Andrea, and Morgan; and a special thank you to Corey, the maintenance man who went above and beyond to make Lisa's room feel like home. Your kindness, friendship, care, and the special place you held in Lisa's life will always be deeply appreciated and remembered by her family.

Lisa may have left our sight, but the love, laughter, and memories she gave us will remain with our family forever.
