Linus Haag

February 23, 1927 — December 23, 2016

WAUNAKEE-With heavy hearts we say goodbye to our dad, Linus Peter Haag, who passed away at home on December 23, 2016, surrounded by family. Dad was born, the second oldest of 10 children to Joseph and Louise (Esser) Haag, on February 23, 1927. He grew up on the family farm in East Bristol. Dad enjoyed many different activities, but none more than dancing, where he met the love of his life, Mary Lou Hellenbrand. They were married on September 4, 1950. They farmed in East Bristol, then in Waunakee, retiring from farming in 1972. For many years Dad worked for Michael F. Simon Builders and then the Waunakee School District as a custodian and crossing guard retiring at the age of 82.

Dad had many interests like woodworking, making things for his family, and gardening. He enjoyed fishing at the cabin where he spent time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Dad never passed up a good card game. He always enjoyed playing Solo and Euchre, but none more than Sheepshead with his family and friends.

Dad also enjoyed Badger, Packer, and Brewer games including going to spring training in Arizona. Throughout the years, mom and dad took many trips to Branson and Minnesota for polka festivals. Dad enjoyed going to the casino especially when he was on a winning streak.

Dad is survived by his 7 children, Linda (Steve) LeCoultre, Shirley (Gary) Ripp, Debbie (Wayne) Wagner, Larry Haag, Mark (Marianne) Haag, Karen Haag, Ron (Lanita) Haag; 22 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Evangeline Kalscheuer, Donna Mae Werla, Venida Barman, Jean Ripp, Louise (Laverne) Dresen, Barb (John) Dresen and Betty Haag; in-laws, Art (Phyllis) Hellenbrand, Herb Hellenbrand, Marv (Marlene) Hellenbrand and Sharon Ziegler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; parents; brothers, Cyril Haag, Robert Haag, and Joe Haag; and other deceased members of the Haag and Hellenbrand families.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who helped take care of dad and to the special individuals who brought daily joy these past few years.

"Don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart. Dad we love you and miss you, say hi to mom for us."
