Madison - Linda M. (Lom) Weyenberg, age 71, passed away on November 25, 2013 at Agrace Hospice.
Linda was born on May 15th, 1942 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Wallace and Edna Lom. She graduated from West High School in Green Bay in 1960. Linda married Jerome Weyenberg in August, 1963. Linda and Jerry established a Real Estate business, Century 21 Cross Roads Realty, in Sheboygan, WI in 1979. Linda worked as a Realtor until 1985 when, at the age of 43, she began her college career, at the University of Wisconsin -Sheboygan Extension. In 1986 Linda moved to Madison, WI to continue her education at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. During her undergraduate work Linda worked as an Assistant Teacher in the classrooms at the Waisman Center on the UW Madison Campus. In 1990 Linda graduated with her B.A. in Social work at the same graduation ceremony as her son, Sam, who also graduated with his undergraduate degree. She completed her Masters Degree in Social Work in 1991. Linda began a long happy career as Director of Neighborhood House Community Center in 1990. The numerous individuals and groups she connected with through Neighborhood House became a second family for Linda and she maintained contact with many of them throughout her life. Linda retired from Neighborhood House in 2008. Linda enjoyed reading, playing cards, dining out and connecting with friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family; her grandson, Joshua, was the apple of her eye. Linda was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend.
Linda is survived by her son, Samuel (Laura) Weyenberg, a sister, Lonnie (Michael) Murphy, two grandchildren, Joshua Weyenberg and Nichole Bertram, a nephew, Daniel (Christine) Murphy and children Lauren and Ryan, a sister-in-law, Julee Weyenberg, a niece, Lisa (Tim) Allen and children Austin and Carter, a nephew, Daniel Weyenberg and son William, a brother-in-law, Gary (Marilyn) Weyenberg and a brother-in-law, Dale (Jan) Weyenberg and children. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Edna (Geurts) Lom, an aunt, Mabel Topley, her former husband, Jerry Weyenberg, a brother-in-law, Glen Weyenberg, a niece, Riley Murphy and numerous relatives.
A memorial service for Linda will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 3 pm at the Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI 53705 with a visitation from the conclusion of the service until 6:30 pm.
