Linda Jo Hartwig’s earthly journey ended Wednesday, August 5, 2026, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Linda was born May 30, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Ida Mae McDonald and Frank Taylor Amos. She graduated from Central City High School in Central City, Iowa.

She married Albert Carl Hartwig on February 27, 1965. They had six children who were raised over the years while relocating to six different states as a military family. She was a proud military wife, and very much enjoyed their tour of duty in Fort Richardson, Alaska. They retired in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, and son in law Jan Marks.

She is survived by her children: June (Doug) Weiss, Brenda Marks, Jeff (Kristin) Hartwig, Rebecca (Dan) Woolever, Jacqueline (Bill) Hopfensperger, and Brian Hartwig; her grandchildren: Brittany (Nic) Lovdahl, Josh Marks, Amanda (Jason) Schultz, Kiaj (Jereyl) Knerr, Rhyanne Hartwig, Logan and Chase Woolever, Alejandra Cardenas, Noah Hopfensperger, Hadyn and Alex Hartwig; and great grand-children: Jeffrey Marks, Lane, Levi, and Laci Schultz, and Bryce, Kamri, Baylor, and Bristol Knerr.

The family would like to sincerely thank the employees at Charleston House Memory Care in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin for the care over the years and Hillside Hospice in her last days.

There will be a private family service and burial at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
