Lillian Puccio Goggin Nyborg, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 19, 2018. She heard the call of her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ continuing her eternal life in Heaven. She was born the daughter of Joseph and Maria Puccio formerly of Sicily.
A lifelong resident of Madison, she graduated from Central High School and attended cosmetology school writing the second highest grade on the state exam. She worked in several salons, including the prestigious House of Leonard before marrying John P. Goggin of Iowa. Together they had five children. After she was widowed four years, she married Robert Nyborg of Madison. Lillian loved music, especially organ music and was largely self-taught. She loved going to the orchestra and ballet. She enjoyed stage productions especially musicals. Dining in restaurants with friends and family was one of her favorite activities. Lillian enjoyed beautiful things, birds, animals and flowers, especially African violets. She was very devoted to her beloved dogs Max, Gina, Hachiko and Bella. She was sentimental and saved nearly every greeting card she received. She received many. She befriended several younger women who thought of her as a second mom. Indeed, some of them called her Mom.
Lillian is survived by her husband of 55 years Robert, daughter Patricia (David), Thomas (Mary Ann), Robert (Mary), Donald (Mary) and son Timothy. She always thought her children were the brightest and the best. She considered her children her proudest achievement. She is survived by six brilliant grandchildren, Jonathan (Xochitl), Kjerstin (Michael), Vanessa, Katie, Christopher and Steven. She also has two exceptional great grandchildren CJ and Jack. Recently two more wonderful great granddaughters were added to the family by marriage, Madisyn and Daisy. She is also survived by her nephew Richard (Linda)of Eau Claire. Her niece Leani was her much loved sounding board and patient listener.
She was preceded in death by her very good friends Paul and Dorothy W. and Dorothy T. Dorothy T's children Emily, Greg and Raymond are loved by her and remain in touch with "Aunt Lil".
She maintained a friendship 68 years young with Anne of Canada. Lillian never met a stranger. After Robert and Lillian sold their home their real estate agent, Frank, and his wife Jane became friends visiting them in their home, sending cards and calling on the phone. She was known for making and giving away her delicious Italian Christmas Cookies and German Chocolate cakes. Grandson Steven estimates "about 7000!" Other people that Lillian "adopted" in her life are Carolyn, who is the daughter of her friends Paul and Dorothy, Lynn, Debra, Katie, Rose, Shirley, Dexter, Arnold, and Oscar. The ladies were faithful greeting card senders on all holidays major and minor and sometimes "just because."
The family is grateful to Luciana B. of CNA on the Go and her staff, especially Angela and Dora. We owe a great debt of gratitude to Agrace Hospice Care, especially Nicole RN and Samantha CNA for their invaluable help and kindness which helped us fulfill Lillian's oft stated desire
to be at home. She often said she wanted her flowers while she was alive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Agrace Hospice of Madison.
