Lillian Grede

Lillian Ann (Liebetrau) Grede, 95, died August 30, 2013 at Oakwood Lutheran Nursing Home West, Madison. A private graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison, WI. Lillian was born June 28, 1918 to Hilmar and Anna (Stehr) Liebetrau in Madison.

Lillian graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a B.A. degree in Library Science. Following graduation Lillian worked in the Waukesha Public Library for 3 years where she met Robert Grede. Lillian and Robert were married June 27, 1943 in Madison. Lillian continued her career at the Madison Public Library for 30 years, where she retired as Circulation Supervisor in 1980.

Upon retirement, Lillian was an active volunteer at Oakwood Village West where she coordinated Tea Room lunches for 20 years. Lillian was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Waunakee, WI.

Lillian is survived by her son John Grede (Carolyn) of Round Lake, IL; her grandchildren, Adam Grede (Heidi) of Madison, and Alex Grede of Rochester, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert Grede, and her parents.
