Marshall / Deerfield - Leslie Arthur Zickert, born February 19, 1921 to John and Amanda (Zenk) Zickert. He was given back to Jesus on March 13, 2016.
Leslie attended Smith School in the Township of Medina which required him to walk many miles each day. His first job was working with his brother Vernon for the Walter Holzhueter Farm. He married Doris Ward on Dec. 4, 1943. They purchased their farm from Leslies father John Zickert. They operated the farm their entire working life. He held many side jobs over the years including the Wisconsin Cheeseman, Canning Factory, and carpenter. After he retired from farming he continued working for the FS Fertilizing Plant for 16 years. He loved watching the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, Nascar racing, fishing for bullheads. His love for watching things grow continued with the large garden he had at their home. Leslie and Doris enjoyed watching and listening to polka music.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years Doris; children, Robert (Nancy Kramer), Ronald, Kenneth (Debra), Patricia (Patrick), Karen (Jay); five grandchildren, Kathleen (Scott), Brian (Rose), Kristine (Justin), Nicole (Kevin), Casey; 3 great grandchildren Blake, Lily, and Avery; brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Vernon, Alvin, Harold, William, and Raymond.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday March 17, 2016 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 138 County Road BB, Deerfield/Marshall. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service at church on Thursday. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland.
