Leroy Taylor

WAUNAKEE/ WESTPORT-Leroy James Taylor, age 67, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017, following a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis. A lifelong resident of Waunakee, Leroy was born to Jim and Sybilla Taylor on December 13, 1949. After graduating from Waunakee High School, Leroy married Sandra Ziegler on October 24, 1970, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. They welcomed two children, Tracy and Troy.

Leroy enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Among Leroy's passions were hunting and fishing and his happiest times included getting his dogs ready for hunting season. His other love was watching his children and grandchildren playing sports rarely missing one of their Waunakee games. Leroy worked at Central Wisconsin Center until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Waunakee; his children, Tracy Weber of Waunakee and Troy (Krystal) Taylor of Belleville; his sister, Evelyn (William) Schmale; two grandchildren, Taylor and Grant Weber; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Shirley (Robert) Gilbertson and Carol (Clarence) Tjepkema.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017 at WINN-CRESS FUNERAL HOME in Waunakee from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m. Military honors will be conducted following the service.
