LeRoy V. Gullings

Wausau/Madison - LeRoy V. Gullings, age 90, died Fri. Feb. 5, 2010, at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center Madison.

He was born Dec. 19, 1919, in Wheaton, Minnesota, to the late Ingeman and Augusta (Peterson) Gullings.   

Roy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1943 and married Nancy Millard on June 26, 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Some of his fondest memories were of the childhood summers he spent on his maternal grandparents' farm in Minn.  Roy was a captain in the U.S. Army from 1942 thru 1946, with duties abroad in the Philippines, England, France, and Germany.  He spent most of his working career as a lubrication consultant for Mobil Oil Corp.  Roy had a variety of interests, including church, family history, writing, gardening, a good laugh and all things mechanical.

Survivors include his daughter Josephine, granddaughter Lillian, son-in-law Jack, and many relatives on his mother's side.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sat. June 26, 2010, at the EMMANUEL EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 602 12th Ave. East, Alexandria, MN., with the Rev. Kathryn Jeffrey presiding.  Burial will follow at Lake Ida Lutheran Cemetery.  The family invites relatives and friends to the memorial service, and in addition, a gathering following the services, for a time of sharing, at Ida Town Hall, 4700 County Road 6 NW, Garfield, MN.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the many friends and professionals who helped Roy these last few years.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Alexandria, First Lutheran Church, Alexandria or the charity of your choice.
