Leonard Otteson

MCFARLAND--Leonard B. Otteson, age 92 passed away Friday, February 08, 2013. He was born in Crosby, ND on August 8, 1920 the son of the late Andrew and Alice (Nelson) Otteson. He attended Cooksville grade school and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of '38. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII. He was united in marriage to Margene Rosella Eckhardt on April 14, 1948 in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 6, 1999. Leonard worked for Borden's Dairy as a wholesale milkman for 38 years until his retirement. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, McFarland American Legion Post 534 and the Stoughton VFW Post 328. He loved boating, traveling, bowling and most of all, his grandkids.

Leonard is survived by his 5 children, Sandra Otteson, Andrew (Gaylene), Barbara Otteson, Lloyd (Sandy), all of McFarland, and Larry (Laurie), of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margene, parents, Andrew and Alice; sister, Norma Lally; and brother, Arnold Otteson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Cress Funeral Home, 5801 Highway 51, McFarland with Rev. Paula Geister-Jones officiating, followed by Military Honors. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.
