Waunakee - Leonard J. Laufenberg, age 91 passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Meriter Hospital following complications from Alzheimer's. He was born on March 26, 1922 in the Town of Berry, the son of Peter and Gertrude (Endres) Laufenberg. On August 29, 1959, Leonard was united in marriage to Agnes V. Bowman at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Richwood, Wisconsin. Leonard worked in carpentry for many years and was a member of the Local Carpenter's Union #314 for 60 years. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, bowling, fishing and going to the casino's. Leonard will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Agnes Laufenberg; his six children, Jo Ann (Joel) Marshall, James (Gayla) Weber, Robert (Maureen) Weber, Susan (Mark) Barry, Michelle (Richard) McKellar and Daniel (Dawn Anderson); eight grandchildren, Paul (Kaelie) Schluter, David (Holly Anderson) Klamer, Amy Klamer, Dustin Weber, Kristine (Tammy) Kernz, Rachel (John) Miller, Kara (Jason) Wipperfurth and Charlie McKellar; five great grandchildren, Ethan Schluter, Elijah Schluter, Connor Wipperfurth, Hailey Wipperfurth and Jackson Miller; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Laufenberg; three sisters, Loretta Nordenss, Rita Amdahl, Genevieve (Conrad) Markley; a brother, Robert (Ramona) Laufenberg; sisters- in- law, Mary Quinn and Catherine Bowman and brothers-in-law, John Kennedy and Leo Krantz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, his son Charles Laufenberg; two sisters, Elanor Laufenberg and Valarie Krantz and a brother Wilfred and sister-in-law, Beatrice Kennedy and brother-in-law, Joseph Bowman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARTIN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5959 St. Martin Circle, Town of Springfield, WI on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11:00 am with Father Brian Dulli presiding. A visitation will be held at Winn Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and again on Monday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Graveside services will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Meriter Hospital on the 11th floor for all their love, care and attention given to Leonard and our family.
