Leona “Lee” Ann Wallin (Endres) Grubb Obituary  - July 2023

Leona (Lee) was born on July 17, 1928 in Madison, Wisconsin to Rose (Cossette) and John Wallin, and she was the youngest of 6 children.  She died on Friday, July 7, just 10 days before her 95^th birthday. She graduated from Madison Central High School in 1946, then set her sights on a nursing degree from Milwaukee EV Deaconess School of Nursing, which led her to work in the U.W. Hospital, St. Mary’s, Attic Angels and private home care.  In 1950 she married Lawrence Endres, and shortly after retired from nursing to raise a family and devote herself to being the bookkeeper for the family business, Endres Manufacturing Company in Waunakee, which she did for approximately 25 years.

In 1998 she married Donald Grubb, a former high school classmate, re-connected at their 50^th Class reunion.  Don and Lee loved to golf, bowl, play cards, boat on the lakes, travel, bike, entertain guests, dance, and contribute to their community through volunteer work.  Lee worked for 34 years as a Minister of Communion and Home Visitation for her church and at St. Mary’s Hospital, was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 70+ years, organized a social golf club and various card playing groups, volunteered as a reading tutor at St. John’s School, and served on many committees at Edgewood High School, traveled extensively with the Wisconsin Friendship Force, and volunteered at the Waunakee Manor Nursing Home.  Lee and Don loved cheering for the Packers, the Bucks,  the UW Women’s Basketball Team, and watching Wheel of Fortune. (Never call her between 6:30 and 7:00!)

She is survived by her two children, Diane Endres Ballweg of Madison, and Ronald (Sheila) Endres of Verona, two step-sons, David (Jodi) Grubb, and Dan (Patty) Grubb, five grandchildren, Ben Ballweg, Sam (Annie) Ballweg, Kate (Dan) Marquardt, Alexandra Endres and Jordan Endres, five step-grandchildren, Bryan, Brady, Tyler, Shauna, and Brittany, and nine great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her first husband, Larry in 2006, her second husband, Don in 2016, her step-son Dick Grubb, and all her siblings and their spouses.  She is the final survivor of her generation.
