Stoughton - Lennis A. Christensen, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on January 8, 2016 at the Stoughton Hospital. He was born on July 26, 1931 in Madison, WI., the son of Leslie and Leota (Short) Christensen. He married Edith Kopke on January 22, 1955 in Edgerton, WI at the Central Lutheran Church.
Lennie grew up on a Dairy Farm in Oregon, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the Navy early in life and served his country during the Korean War, until his Honorable Discharge in October of 1952. Lennie and Edie raised their family on a Tobacco farm in Stoughton. In 1961 Lennie began a career with Uniroyal and worked until his retirement on his 65th birthday. He enjoyed camping at the Outpost in Tomahawk, snowmobiling, spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the Brewers and the Packers.
He is survived by his wife Edie; 4 children, Richard (Barb), Roland, Randal "Hank" (Julie), Kim (Bruce) Sime; grandchildren, Danny (Jenny), Bryce (Amber), Eric, Nick (Taylor), Kelly (Chris) Pollack, Karl (Courtney), Wendy, Ronnie, Hayley (Caleb), and Davis; 3 great granddaughters, Alyssa, Anneka, and Avery; and one more great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his brother Wendall (Marge) and sister Nahldean (Bill) Maher; sister in-law Eileen (Tom) Meichtry; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dallas (Kitty); grandson, Christopher; and many brother and sister in-laws.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the VFW Post #328, 200 Veterans Rd, Stoughton. A light luncheon will be provided throughout the visitation.
