Leng "Tsav Pov" Thor, age 71, a beloved father, grandfather, and husband passed away surrounded by the love of his family on a beautiful sunrise morning of Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Leng was born on June 6, 1954 in Muang Moc (near Xieng Khouang) Laos. He was the son of the late Nao Lue Thao and Chae Vang.
At a young age of 15 years old, he served as a Sergeant with the Lao Special Guerrilla Units from 1969-1975 during the Vietnam War. In 1979, he married Xay Xiong (divorced in 2004). In June of 1980, Leng, Xay and his younger brother Dang, were sponsored to come to the United States.
After arriving to the United States, he continued to pursue learning English with night classes at Downtown Madison Area Technical College (MATC). He worked tirelessly raising his eleven children and later retired from the UW Madison Power Plant after 25+ years in 2017. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and was best known for his "Green thumb". He spent countless hours tending to his vegetable garden.
Leng is survived by his significant other of 15 years, Chor Vue. His eleven children with Xay Xiong -Sons, David (Samantha); grandchild, Temperance; Jason, Bobby, Jamie, Tim and Mark. Daughters, Julie (Tim); grandchildren, Vincent, Rinoa and Keenan Ly; Deena; grandchildren, Taliya, Leon, Raylen, and Nala Yang; Annie (Kong); grandchildren, Chinou (Duachi); waiting for the arrival of his first great-grandchild (son), Yu Pheng, Owen and Jada Yang; Sunny (Jordan); grandchild, Nolan McConnell; Rachel (Khoua); waiting for the arrival of grandchild Lucian.
He is also survived by his brothers Wa Kai and Pao Houa; sisters, Mai and Xee and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dang.
Services and Celebration of Life
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Leng’s life and legacy during a traditional visitation and celebration:
