Lela Johnson

Lela Horsfall Johnson, age 91, died at Agrace Hospice on September 9, 2013. She was born in Patch Grove, WI on February 23, 1922, the 8th child of Roy and Mary Pearl (Ball) Horsfall. Lela worked in Madison as a secretary for several years. On December 22, 1951, she married Robert Lee Johnson, an Air Force serviceman she met in Denver. She traveled with Bob on his assignments in California, Texas, North Dakota, Washington and Misawa, Japan. In retirement they lived in Yakima prior to their extensive RV travels throughout the US. After Bob died in 1989, Lela moved back to Madison.

Lela is survived by one older sister, Margaret Taft of Norton, MA, and four younger brothers, Jim (Joan) Horsfall of Madison, Robert of Prairie Du Chien WI, Calvin (Hannah) of
Bloomington, WI, and Paul (Maxine) Horsfall of Lansing, IA and Dunedin,FL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers David, Harold, Ralph and sisters, Grace Martin and Marian Manion.

For the past few years she has enjoyed her retirement years at Coventry Village serving as an ambassador and in many other activities.

Before her death Lela arranged for a brief memorial service with Reverend Jody Curley, presiding. The service will be held Sunday September 15 at 2:00, at Coventry Village in the Brookline Activity Room, 7710 S. Brookline Drive, Madison WI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agrace Hospice Care, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711. www.agrace.org
