Leeann Messner-Sletten

McFarland- LeeAnn Messner-Sletten began life's journey on December 29, 1956. She was born in Madison, WI to Donald and Carolyn (Fellers) Messner. She was the second of five Messner children. The family made their home on the shores of Lake Monona. It was there where Lanny developed her love for the water. Many summer days were spent on skis behind the family's boat. She attended Monona Grove Schools and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1976. LeeAnn was the definition of motherhood, never missing an opportunity to be involved or care for the children in her life. No sporting event was ever too cold; no band concert ever too far, LeeAnn was always there. She carried that same level of love and devotion into her life as Grandma Meema, always putting her family in front of herself. In January of 2004 LeeAnn was married to Michael Sletten. Together the two spent the last thirteen plus years making a lifetimes worth of wonderful memories. Travel, golf, fishing together on their boat, and of course spending time with grandkids topped the list of LeeAnn's most cherished activities.

LeeAnn was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother Michael. She is survived by her husband Michael Sletten, daughters Carolyn Paetow (Josh), Rebecca Kirch (Nathan), and Elizabeth Hanson (Adam Knutson), siblings Cindy Zielinski (Tom), Ric Messner (Traci), Scott Messner, Uncle Gary Messner (Sally), grandchildren Adrienne, Brynn, and Hannah Kirch as well as Finn and William Paetow, in addition to nieces and nephews Derek Butson (Elizabeth) as well as Sullivan and Sydney Messner.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciations to LeeAnn's dedicated team of physicians and care givers at St. Mary's Hospital, Dean Oncology Clinic, and Turville Bay Radiation & Oncology Center. A special thanks to Agrace Hospice Care for helping LeeAnn gently reach her final destination on June 2, 2017.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Cress Funeral Home (5801 Highway 51, McFarland WI 53558). A celebration of life will immediately follow for those who are interested at Tully's II (6401 Monona Drive, Monona WI 53716).
