Stoughton- Lawrence C. Weiss, age 74, passed away at HospiceCare in Fitchburg on Tuesday, August 30 2011. He was born in Buffalo, NY on September 16, 1936, a son of William and Dorothy (Koch) Weiss. He married Rae Trottnow, who preceded him in death in 1963. In 1966, he married Mary E. Morris. Larry received his BA in mathematics from Rutgers, and his MBA in Quantitative Analysis from Fairleigh Dickenson University. He worked for over 50 years in the computer business, and was a Manager at the NY Stock Exchange of a group that developed the first computer system to drive the NYSE stock ticker. Larry had been a member of the Wausau Board of Zoning Appeals, the Wausau Railroad Commission, and an alternate to the Airport Commission. He was currently serving his second term on the Stoughton City Council, Alderman District 1. Larry was an enthusiastic accordion player and organist, an avid Badger fan, a model train enthusiast, and had a private pilot's license. He was a principled man who stood up for what he believed in. He is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Jeffrey (Sandra) Weiss; daughters, Anne Weiss, Leigh (Justin) Slauson, and Debra Weiss; 5 grandchildren, Xanis, Levi, Fynten, Samuel and Ashley; a cousin, Karen Maier; and uncle and aunt, Alton and Naomi Weiss. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a brother, Brian P. Weiss; and a cousin, Marilyn Schwager. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Stoughton United Methodist Church, 535 N. Lincoln Ave. with the Rev. Lamarr V. Gibson officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, September 2nd at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again at church on Saturday from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Following services, a reception will be held at church. Special thanks to HospiceCare, Inc.
