Lawrence Mcdonnell

Cooksville- Lawrence J. McDonnell, age 78, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015 at his home. He was born in Chicago on January 22, 1937, the son of Lawrence and Eleanor McDonnell. Larry graduated high school from Loyola Academy in Chicago. He received his Bachelor's degree from Loyola University, and his Master's degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Connecticut. In June 1958 Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served his country for two years. He worked as a Nuclear Physicist for the State of WI Department of Health for many years until his retirement. After retirement Larry started two small businesses dealing with radon detection, Wisconsin Radiological Laboratories and Wisconsin Remediation both still in operation today. On July 31, 1965 Larry married Patricia Leary. Together they enjoyed entertaining, gardening, home renovations, and family vacations in the north woods. They were both active members of St. Ann Parish. Patricia preceded Larry in death in 1993. On December 27, 2006 he married Cynthia Liddle. Together they enjoyed biking, travelling, spending time at the cottage, and visiting with family. Larry is survived by his wife, Cynthia; four sons, Phil (Wendy), Stephen, Scott (Sarah), and Jay; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ellie, Nick, Vivian, and Faith; two step-grandchildren, Kayla and Brandon; siblings, Patricia (David) Field, Dennis (Kate), and Jim; and many extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Patricia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Stoughton, with Father Randy Budnar officiating. Burial will follow in Cooksville Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass on Tuesday at church. Memorials may be made to St. Ann Parish. A special thank you to Larry's neighbors and friends who visited him regularly.
