Lawrence K. "Larry" Danielson, age 83 passed away on Tuesday May 14, 2013 at the Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. He was born on January 31, 1930 in La Crosse, WI , the son of Elmer "Dan" and Mabel Danielson.
Larry graduated from Readstown High School in 1948. After attending Vernon County Normal School he enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1950-1953 serving in the Korean War. Later Larry attended La Crosse State College receiving his Bachelors in Education and went on for his Masters at UW WhiteWater graduating in 1964 with a degree in Education Administration.
Larry taught in Soldiers Grove, Waterloo and was Principal at Northside School, Sun Prairie for 18 years. He served as State Adjutant Quarter Master to the Veterans of Foreign Wars for 13 years. He was a member of VFW 8483, AL 481, DAV, KWA, and continued to be a Veterans advocate for the remainder of his life.
Larry was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed researching historical events.
He is survived by his wife Trish (nee Corbin), son Jeff (Mary) Danielson, daughter Julie Oyer, grandchildren Zachary, Freeman, Scott (Emily), and Eric, great grandchildren Lucas, Hunter, Parker, Ava, and other relatives and numerous friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 25th from 10-12:00 pm at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison. A Military service with Military Honors will follow the visitation.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Tomah Veterans Hospital for 6 years of loving care.
Memorials can be made to the VFW Post 8483 or Wisconsin Chapter of The American Parkinson Disease Association.
