LaVerne F. Slinde

Slinde, LaVerne F. LaVerne F. Slinde, age 87, passed away at his home in Stoughton on Friday, June 5, 2009.   He was born in Stoughton on May 22, 1922, a son of John and Stella (Burthe) Slinde.   LaVerne graduated from Stoughton High School and served his country in the Army during WWII.   On November 12, 1943, he was united in marriage to Leona Geske.   LaVerne worked in several foundries and factories in the area, and retired from Stoughton Lumber.   After retirement, he was a caregiver to his wife Leona.   LaVerne was a member of First Lutheran Church, and a lifelong Cubs fan.   He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Dennis) Fyan; grand children, Duane (Lisa) Slinde, Dawna (Jeff) Furseth, Monica (Nathan) Leikness, Megan (Darvin) Frey and Michele (Cody) Christianson; great-grandchildren, Erin, Erica, Cameron, Hannah, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Jayden, Seth, Isaac and Eric.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; and son, Robert.   Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, 310 East Washington St., Stoughton, with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating.   Burial and Military rites will follow at Lutheran Cemetery South in Stoughton.   The family will greet friends at church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service.   The family wishes to express a thank you to Dr. Guirish Agni, Rev. Richard Halom, and HospiceCare, Inc. for their kindness and care.   Dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa you will be missed dearly.   Rest peacefully.   We will see you again.
