Larry C. Schey

Sun Prairie-Larry Schey, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Larry was born on October 26, 1931 the son of Arthur and Charlotte (Arians) Schey. On Dec. 31, 1982, he was united in marriage with Shirley Franzen in Middleton. Larry served in the United States Army during the Korean War. For 35 years he was employed by National Elevator Industry. He enjoyed fishing and made his own fishing rods of which he donated many to the church. He was a great gardener. He was renowned for his pickles and tomatoes. Larry was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church. Larry is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons Richard (Michelle) Schey and John (Gwen) Schey; step-sons Walter (Rita) Miller and George (Nancy Flesch) Forbes; brother Cletus (Yvonne) Schey; sister Kathryn Seibel; grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his loyal canine companion, Nikki; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends . He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Mary Ellen Schey; grandson J.P. Toulon; sister-in-law Rose ""Peg"" Schey; and step-son James Miller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 221 Columbus Street, at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Duane R. Moellenberndt presiding. Friends may call on Friday, January 14, 2011 at Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:00, and again at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Sacred Hearts Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Sun Prairie area veterans. The family would like to thank HospiceCare for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to HospiceCare, Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church building and grounds fund or the Humane Society of your choice.
