Larry Leistikow

May 29, 1969 — August 29, 2017

To all who knew him, he lived a life full and large in every respect, yet it was ultimately in wrestling to a draw for nearly a year the illness that was eventually too great for even him that Larry Leistikow once again, and ultimately, demonstrated to all who knew and loved him the mountain of a man, physically, spiritually and emotionally, we all loved and now so dearly miss. Larry Ray Leistikow, his wife and love of his life Mindy Kay at his side, passed from this life [into eternal life] on August 29, 2017 leaving a legacy of love, integrity, compassion, selflessness and ALWAYS laughter for all who were so blessed to intersect the path of his days.

Larry Ray Leistikow was born on May 29, 1969 to Diane and Raymond Leistikow. Larry and Mindy, best friends and life companions, were joined in marriage on October 23, 1998. Over the next 19 years, their shared lives were devoted to family, faith and community and particularly supporting the activities, and reveling in the accomplishments, of their 4 sons, Skyler, Justin, Alex and Reece. Larry's lifelong love of basketball, and his high school prowess on the hardcourt, were consigned to his sons who could always count on dad and mom following and cheering, typically in-person, their hoops exploits. That the budding young basketball heros of Marshall might be deprived of place or opportunity to hone their skills, Larry determined that an "all comers"-friendly venue was necessary and "Fox Court" was born in the back of "Mindy's Silver Fox", the Marshall sports bar and meeting place that Larry and Mindy owned and operated for 10 years.

Larry will find comfort in knowing that the close-knit family of which he was part, and which he so affectionately cultivated, will support each other and through stories, reminiscences and "only Larry" anecdotes, keep alive in his absence the larger-than-life persona that drew so many to him. In addition to his lifelong treasure, Mindy, Larry is immediately survived by his 4 sons Skyler, Justin (Melanie), Alex and Reece, his mother Diane Leistikow, mother-in-law Mary Grossman, sisters Luanne Schambow (Joe) and Laurie Hatzinger (Dale), brother-in-law Troy Loga (Becky), sisters-in-law Lindsay Day (Doug) and Susan Minton (Joshua), God-children Gregory Hatzinger , Brock Schambow and Cooper Loga, as well as many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is now reunited with his father, Raymond Leistikow, grandparents Donald and Edna Wall, Anna Leistikow and Herman and Edith (" Dolly") Leistikow as well as his step father-in-law, Loren Grossman, all of whom preceded.

The mettle of a man may be measured through his strength in adversity, his love, his kindness, his integrity that inspires, the lives he touches, his spirit and in countless so many other ways. To those Larry loved, and who in turn loved him, we will remember him and find solace in these and especially "in the countless so many other ways" that will make us smile and rejoice in his memory for years to come.
