Kokilaben Ambubhai Patel

Kokilaben (Kokila) Maganbhai Patel was born August 15, 1945 in Bombay, India, and was the daughter of Maganbhai and Maniben Patel. Kokila passed away October 10, 2025, at the age of 80, at Agrace hospice facility in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. She grew up in Bombay and Ode, India. She married Ambubhai Chimanbhai Patel of Pij, India. They lived in Vallabh Vidyanagar, India. Their son, Biren Ambubhai Patel was born in 1966. Their daughter, Shital Ambubhai Patel, was born four years later. For most of her life in India, Kokila was a homemaker. In 1984, the family moved to New York, USA.

Kokila worked various jobs in the US. She retired from Duane Reade drug store due to health issues. Kokila cherished her children and family life, and was of deep spiritual faith. God and family was her life.

Family and friends remember Kokila for her strong willpower, toughness, and caring nature. She enjoyed helping people and cared for people from many backgrounds and walks of life. She loved to sing, weave, and cook.

Dorothea is preceded in death by her husband and daughter. She is survived by her son, granddaughter (Jiya Biren Patel), and daughter-in-law (Rita Biren Patel).

Kokila was a fighter. For a long time, she delt with numerous health issues. The cornerstone of her life was her faith in God. In her own words for the past few years her death, she related to her family that she lived a wonderful life and was on “Bonus Time.”. Memories of her will sustain her family and friends in their loss.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI  53705.
