Madison - Klareen M. Nottestad, age 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Middleton Village. She was born on January 27, 1934 to the late Orville and Alice (Dahlen) Nottestad. She was baptized and confirmed at North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Westby, WI and graduated from high school in Westby in 1952. She attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, graduating in 1956. Following graduation from Luther College, Klareen taught Business Ed at Whitehall High School in Whitehall, WI for two years (1956-1958). She joined the staff at St. John's Lutheran Church in Madison, WI in 1958 and served as Administrative Secretary for eight years. In 1967, Klareen returned to teaching and taught Business Ed at James Madison Memorial High School until she retired in 1996. During her retirement, Klareen was an active volunteer at St. John's, serving on many committees and providing leadership to the "Older Than Average" senior group for many years. She will be remembered with love and appreciation for her care of others by her many students, relatives and friends.
Friends and relatives may call at St. John's Lutheran Church (322 E. Washington Ave, Madison WI) on Tuesday, April 22 from 9:30a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:30a.m., with Pastor Ken Smith presiding. Burial to follow at North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church Cemetery in Westby, Wisconsin.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church.
