LOS ANGELES--Kenneth R. Sachtjen, age 63, passed away from heart failure on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his home in Los Angeles, CA.

He was born on December 20, 1949, in Madison, WI, son of Kenneth M. and Beverly (Hult) Sachtjen. He attended and graduated from James Madison Memorial High School in 1968 and the School of Dentistry at Marquette University in 1973. He served as a Captain in the US Air Force, in Denver, CO, as a dentist, during the years of 1973-1975. After serving in the USAF, he began practicing dentistry in 1975, eventually establishing his own dental practice in Madison, WI. Upon the completion of his dental career, he spent his remaining years in sunny Los Angeles, CA. He was married to Kathy Zimmer (Zastrow) in 1973 for 20 years; they started a family in 1976 with the birth of their first son Jason, followed by Ryan in 1979. He was always an avid reader and fitness enthusiast. He enjoyed playing golf and loved watching sports of all types, especially at the collegiate level, always rooting for his favorite Wisconsin teams. He was also a big action movie fan and loved watching them at the theater.

He is survived by his sons; Jason and Ryan Sachtjen of Madison and Chicago, IL; his brother Paul Sachtjen of Columbus, WI; his sister, Pamela Sweeney of Madison; his two nieces, Kerry Ann and Erin Sweeney; and his nephew Michael Sweeney. He was preceded in death by his parents. His life will be celebrated at a private gathering with family.
