Madison: Kenneth David Rotar passed away peacefully on April 4,2016 at UW Hospital at the age of 51. He was born on February 10,1965 in Milwaukee WI. to Philip and Katherine Rotar. Ken was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy as a baby, however he never let this get in the way of him accomplishing anything he set out to do. As a child he was the spokes person for the Muscular Dystrophy Asso. He graduated from Phillips WI High School and received a degree in accounting from Whitewater University, graduating with honors. He was a strong advocate for the disabled. In 1995 he received the" Alfred Hirsch Award for Advocacy" . He campaigned for local transportation issues and preserving the states Medically Needy Nursing Home Program. He served on the executive boards of WI Coalition for Advocacy, Access for Independence, Muscular Dystrophy Asso. Southwest Chapter and was appointed by the Mayor of Madison to the Citizens Advisory Comm. His goal was to speak for those who could not speak for themselves. He enjoyed playing board and computer games, and listening to ELO music. Ken had a radio call-in show in 2013. Although he had no strength or movement he wrote and published a book of philosophy "Bricks of Truth" a Book of Aphorisms.
He is survived by his father, Philip and mother, Katherine, 2 brothers Timothy (Regina) and Daniel (Sandra) and a sister, Janet. Aunts Joanne, Patricia, and Betty, Nephews Kirill and Mikail, and niece, Zanae, and numerous cousins.. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Stanley and Catherine Rotar and Frank and Beatrice Schossow, and aunts and uncles.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be determined.
We would like to extend our thanks to his personal care attendants for their loving care that they gave him to make his life happy and comfortable. Please share your memories.

Ken will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His life was spent in a wheelchair but now he soars with the angels. We will love you forever, Ken.
