WAUNAKEE/ ASHTON-Kenneth Merle Helt, age 47, was killed in an automobile accident on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016. He was born on Feb. 9, 1969, the son of Bill and Virginia (Ballweg) Helt. Ken graduated from Middleton High School in 1988 and received a bachelor's degree in Agriculture from UW-River Falls in 1993. He married Bonnie Jean Posthuma from Waupun on Aug. 29, 1998, and they lived in Waunakee.
Ken was an Agronomy Manager at Premiere Cooperative in Black Earth for 22 years. He enjoyed many sports, went to state in wrestling, and played home talent baseball. Ken was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and UW Badgers. He and Bonnie also enjoyed traveling. Most importantly, Ken loved spending time with his family and being involved with his kids' events.
Ken is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, Jon and Cole; parents, Bill and Virginia; sisters, Sue (Jim) Hensen and Linda (Bob) Marty; brothers, Mark (Katie) Helt, Gary (Diane) Helt, Vic (Dawn) Helt, twin brother, Kevin (Jennifer) Helt, and Bill (Liz) Helt; many nieces and nephew; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Posthuma of Waupun and sisters-in-law, Marcia De Boer and Mary (Mark) Walvort of Waupun. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Posthuma; his grandparents, Bill and Rose Helt and Mellitus and Catherine Ballweg; and his niece, Korissa Marty.
The Funeral service will be held on Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St Peter Catholic Church, 7127 County Truck K in Ashton/Middleton. Friends may call at the church on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the church cemetery and a reception will follow at Rex's Innkeeper in Waunakee.
