Obituary

.Kenneth F. Disch, 82, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at UW Health East Hospital in Madison.

Ken was born on October 10, 1943 in Chicago to Francis and Helen (Dahlstrom) Disch.

He graduated from St. George High School in Illinois, graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with an undergraduate degree, and did graduate studies at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 -1969 which included being stationed in Germany.

He married Patricia McGovern in 1976.

He worked at the American Medical Association and later operated The Wisconsin House Bed and Breakfast in Hazel Green, Wisconsin with Patricia from 1992 until her passing in 2012. He became a COBOL programmer and worked as a contractor for SunStrand and later Smart Solutions. His contract work from 2001 to his retirement in 2017 was at The Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

He married Mary Gusse Sanchez in 2020.

Ken’s retirement years were filled with travel abroad , gardening, family and friends. Throughout his life he also enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking, and studying history, politics and Christianity. Ken was a life-long learner. He was an active member of Blessed Sacrament parish and a St. Vincent De Paul volunteer.

Ken is survived by his wife Mary of Madison; step children Sauron (Kate Scheffer) Sanchez of Deerfield, Wi, Cassandra (Jon Roberts) Sanchez of McFarland, Wi, Griffin (Kedar Joyner) Sanchez of Madison, Wi; nieces Lynn Anne (Tanner) Heicher of Engelwood, Co, Donna Rae (Tanner) Henk of Bloomingdale, Il, nephew Raymond (Skip) Martin Tanner of Bloomfield, Co; and great nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna (Raymond) Tanner, and first wife Patricia (McGovern) Disch.

A memorial mass will take place at 11AM on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 2116 Hollister Ave., Madison, WI. A visitation will take place from 10 until the time of mass. Guests may attend mass virtually at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlhvnkfjL38.
