On August 23, 2023, the world bid farewell to a beloved mother, sister, and friend, as Kathryn Sullivan Walters passed away at the age of 66. Kathryn, born to Raymond Francis Sullivan and Gertrude Ellen Murray on October 25, 1956, leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and unwavering love.
Kathryn's life was marked by a series of accomplishments that reflected her deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. She embarked on mission trips to Belize, carrying with her an unyielding desire to help those in need. Her involvement with the Girl Scouts showcased her dedication to fostering growth and empowerment in young girls, both as a troop leader for her daughter Brittany and as an employee of the organization.
During her time in Washington, D.C., Kathryn made a name for herself as she worked for Paul, Hastings, Janofsky, and Walker. Her attendance at countless black-tie affairs was highlighted by a memorable dance with the esteemed Walter Cronkite.
Kathryn's true passion shone through in her years spent working with individuals with disabilities. Her unwavering dedication to improving the lives of those facing challenges was both inspiring and heartwarming. Kathryn's impact extended beyond her immediate family; many found in her a motherly figure who offered guidance, support, and a listening ear.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Brittany Bearden and Danielle Olsen, who will forever hold dear the moments shared with their mother. Kathryn's siblings, Robert and William Sullivan, also mourn her passing, celebrating the sister who stood as a pillar of strength and love in their lives.
A woman of warmth and generosity, Kathryn found joy in bringing people together. Her culinary talents and knack for entertaining ensured that every gathering was infused with laughter and camaraderie. Her dedication to crafting unforgettable Christmas celebrations underscored her commitment to family and tradition.
In October of 2022, Kathryn realized a lifelong dream as she journeyed to Ireland alongside her two daughters. This cherished adventure marked a crowning achievement, and it is a source of lasting memories.
Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and find solace in each other's company from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie.
