Kathryn Peterson-Geiger, 61, passed away peacefully in her home August 20th after a hard-fought battle with metastatic breast cancer. Kathie was surrounded by her loving mother, daughters and grandson who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Kathie was raised in Madison, Wisconsin by Byron and Dorothy Peterson. After graduating from Madison Memorial High School, she studied education at Edgewood college.
Kathie was a fierce woman- known for her outspokenness, spunk, ambition, and her witty sense of humor that made us cry out with laughter. She possessed many talents and hobbies, including her incredible green thumb and her passion for cooking and all things food related. Kathie will be remembered by her bravery and resilience. She made cancer “look easy”, never allowing it to stop her from dreaming.
Kathie was a light and leader for those on their AODA recovery journeys, having accomplished nearly 13 years of sobriety herself. She was extremely proud of her recovery, and her advocacy continues to inspire the lives of many.
Kathie is survived by her beloved daughters, Amy Geiger, Kari Geiger (Sam Laitsch), grandson, Jackson Laitsch, mother, Dorothy Peterson, and brother, Michael Peterson, and half-brothers Tom (Sandy) and Randy (Patty) Marshall. She is preceded in death by her father, Byron Peterson.
Family and friends are invited to join us in a celebration of her life at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28th at Cress Funeral Service located at 3610 Speedway Road Madison, Wisconsin 53705. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
