Kathy Hansen (1954 - 2026)

Kathy Hansen (KP), age 72, of Oregon, Wisconsin, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on August 11th, 2026, after fighting cancer for many years.

Kathy was born on February 15th, 1954, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She spent her working years caring for the health of others as a Registered Nurse. Kathy was a beloved wife, wonderful mother of three, and a truly remarkable woman whose strength inspired everyone around her. She faced cancer with incredible courage for many years, never allowing the hardest moments to take away her love for life, her family, or the people around her. She was incredibly proud of completing triathlons, dragon boat racing, and rowing; embracing each challenge with the same determination and strength that carried her through life. She found joy in the simple things: being surrounded by nature, sharing a good beer, and making memories with the people she loved. She was selfless, caring, adventurous, and endlessly giving, always putting others before herself. Her strength, warmth, and love will live on in her family, her friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Kurt Hansen; her daughters, Lael (Camila) Pascual, Katiya Gombar, and Teana Gombar; her stepdaughters, Jenna (Justin) Pautz and her child Gavin, and Kelsey (Mitch) Houk and her children Connor and Rylee; and her mother, Margaret Moe.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 20th from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the shelter located at Badger Prairie County Park, 4654 Maple Grove Drive, Verona, WI 53593. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Team Survivor Madison, UW Carbone Cancer Center, and the National Audubon Society in Kathy’s honor.
