Kathleen Binger

Madison - Kathleen "Katie" A. Binger, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Oakwood Village West, in Madison, WI following a brief illness.

She was born on February 3, 1923 to Alice (White) and Henry A. Holt in Madison, WI. Katie attended Blessed Sacrament School and studied at Edgewood College in Madison.

She married Wayne W."Bing" Binger of Madison on September 2, 1944 and lived most of her adult life in New Kensington, PA, where Bing was a director of Research and Development for the Aluminum Company of America. They raised two reasonably successful and happy children, having created a loving home and community of friends. Katie loved to bake whole wheat bread, knit and sew clothes for her children and grandchildren and entertain friends in her home. She never tired of listening to "Oklahoma" and "My Fair Lady" musicals and played "Nola" on the piano for her own and Bing's enjoyment. She was active in St. Andrews Episcopal Church in New Kensington and Grace Episcopal Church in Madison and a member of P.E.O.

Katie is survived by her daughter Mary-Helen Binger, granddaughter Nancy Kathleen Palmer and her two children, Raven and Max Roy (Walnut Creek, CA), son William Holt Binger, grandson Christopher Nelson Binger (Salt Lake City, UT) and grandson Jonathan Nelson Binger (Billings, MO). She is also survived by niece Nancy Kathleen Baillies and nephews James J. and David M. Holt, all of Madison, and their children and grandchildren. They will all miss her sweet phone calls and newspaper clippings and her continued interest in the lives of those she loved.

She was preceded in death by Sister Henriette, brothers William, Joseph, and Jack, and by niece Martha (Holt) Rice and nephew Carl Douglas Holt.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Resurrection Chapel at Oakwood Village West, 6175 Mineral Point Road, Madison with Rev. Dr. Jonathan Greiser (Grace Episcopal Church) and Rev. Martha Nack presiding. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 at the Chapel.
