Katherine Mae (Herrling) Wagner

Katherine Mae (Herrling) Wagner, age 77, of Waunakee, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at Hattie’s Glen. She was born in Madison, WI on May 24, 1948, the daughter of Clement and Bernice (Warner) Herrling. On July 22, 1972, she married Stephen J. Wagner at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waunakee.

Kathy was employed by Springs Window Fashions for 30 years. She had a lifelong love for animals—especially horses, cats, and dogs—and treasured time with her family. For many years she enjoyed visiting flea markets/antique shops and was an avid antiques collector. She also loved doing word searches, crossword puzzles, and studying Scripture, faithfully handwriting large portions of the Bible in her own notebooks.

Her family is deeply grateful to the caregivers at Hattie’s Glen for their attentive, loving support and care in recent years and to Agrace Hospice for their wonderful short-term care.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Stephen; her children, Tammy (Ray Jenkins) and Jason (Janelle) Wagner; and her grandchildren, Dustin Wagner and Clay Jenkins, and Trinity (Luke Hagerty), Rilyn, and Declan Wagner. She is further survived by her siblings Kenneth Herrling and Judy Hellenbrand, and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Robert, and James Herrling; sisters-in-law, Judith (Robert), Lois (James), and Lorraine (Kenneth); and her brother-in-law Ronald Hellenbrand (Judy).

Private funeral services were held at St John’s Catholic Church. Burial was at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Parish.

She will be remembered for her selflessness, strong faith, and the love she shared so generously with so many.
