Waunakee- Karen Beth (Laufenberg) Sines, age 64, ended her journey on Nov. 25, 2017, at home with her husband and children by her side.
Karen was born April 5, 1953, in Waunakee, Wis., to Mathias and Marie "Betty" (Koch) Laufenberg. She married Samuel "Keith" Sines on July 23, 1977, and together they raised three children. While their children were young, Karen ran an in-home daycare and formed close bonds with countless families. She also spent 20 years working as a paraprofessional in the Waunakee School District. Karen was a lifelong member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, and a volunteer at Waunakee Food Pantry. She loved spending time with her family, and got the most joy from being with her eight grandchildren and watching them grow. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. Karen was a good friend to many who knew they could always count on her.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Keith; son Christopher (Shelley) Sines; and daughters, Amanda (Jason) Duffing and Jessie (Josh) Strutz. Karen was the proud grandmother of Ivy and Henry Sines; Isaac, Caleb, Amelia, and Nina Duffing; and Samuel and Kenzie Strutz.
Karen is further survived by her brothers, Michael (Lois), Bill, Dick, Tom (Joan), and Don (Steph) Laufenberg; sisters, Jane (Dan) Niesen, Joan (Tony) Helt, Kris (Ken) Hartwig, Mary (Jim) Pulvermacher, and Karla Laufenberg; mother- and father-in-law, Samuel and Beverly Sines; brothers-in-law Dan (Pam) and Kevin (Linda) Sines; and sisters-in-law, Luanne (Mike) Dawson, Cheryl Sutter, Kathy (Gary) Meyer, and Pam Bedward. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Ken Sutter.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Msgr James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday, Nov 29, 2017 at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Karen's caregiver, Patty Buelo; Marge Raemisch of St. John's Care Team; the staff of Homestead Living; Dr. Robbins and the nurses at Stoughton Hospital; and Felicia, Jodi, and Monica of Agrace HospiceCare.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Karen's name to the Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin and Agrace HospiceCare.
