Karen Fileff McCloud entered her eternal rest on Thursday, May 7th 2026 after a short and quickly discovered fatal illness. She had her two sisters by her side and her daughter not far. Before her passing she had a hospital stay wherein family was able to visit with her and those closest were able to give care and advocate for her needs. There was a lot of compassion and grace and deep love shared in her final few weeks with her daughter, sisters, nephews, in-laws and friends. This is a gift that none of us take for granted.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Alexander and Mary Fileff. We would like to believe they were there for her, welcoming her home again.
She is survived by her daughter Jessica McCloud with her family Ash Hoffman and two children Scout Hoffman and Stirling Hoffman of Chicago, IL. Karen adored her grandchildren and loved taking them to Ella’s Deli for the carousel and tasty treats there in Madison. Many good early memories were made there together.
She is also survived by her two sisters: Judy Fileff w/partner Rocky of Merrillville, Indiana and Manette Hunker of Madison, Wi with her three sons Jeff, Brian, and Scott and their wonderful families. Karen was fortunate to have the care and love of extended family and friends in Madison.
We the family are grateful that she did not suffer long and she really truly went peacefully, sleeping soundly.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be planned for at a later date.
