Sun Prairie, WI – Karen A. Holznagel, 85, passed away on May 13, 2026. She was born on December 26, 1940, in Madison, the daughter of Kermit and Marguerite (Selleck) Schiltz. She was united in marriage to Donald Holznagel on February 7, 1959.

Karen proudly spent 25 years as a Junior Bowling Coach. She was active on the Women’s and Junior’s Board of Directors and served as Treasurer for MAJB. She was a member of the National 600 Bowling Club and participated in several city and state tournaments.

Karen served the community as a member of the Sun Prairie Exchange Club for 25 years. She worked for 50 years in the hotel industry, retiring at the age of 75, from payroll and accounting.

Karen is survived by her 8 children: Dwain Holznagel (Andrea), Kathy Wellman (Donn), Steve Holznagel (Sheilah), Debbie Holznagel, Jeanne Rabuck (Mike), Gary Holznagel (Beth), Todd Holznagel (Sue) and Scott Holznagel; 10 grandchildren: Ben Holznagel, Steve Holznagel Jr, Brittany Sherman, Jennifer Smith, Megan Colley, Sarah Langlois, Donald Langlois, Angelique McFall, Austin Holznagel, and Aubrey Holznagel; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; siblings John Schiltz, Larry Schiltz (Sherri), (Patti) Schiltz, Mary Hudzinski (Doug), Wayne Schiltz and Bob Schiltz (Becky); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband Don Holznagel, parents Kermit and Margie Schiltz, and her brothers Raymond and Glen.

A special thank you to Madison Pointe Senior Living and Brighton Hospice for their care and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held at The Round Table, 1611 N Bristol Street in Sun Prairie, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 11am-3pm.
