Madison -June A. Quinn, age 85, passed away of bile duct cancer on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on October 8, 1927 in Madison, the daughter of Cecil and Rose (Simanek) Herling. June graduated from West High School and attended the University of Wisconsin. She worked in the 1947 Session of the State Legislature. In 1948, she married Dr. Frank C. Larson and three children were born to that marriage. Her children attended Hoyt School where she was a very active volunteer in school activities. In 1956, the family built a home on Plymouth Circle. In 1970, she married John N. Quinn and moved to his home on the Plymouth Circle where she lived for the rest of her life. In 1969, she returned to work in the Assembly of Legislature as a Legislative Aide and retired in 1989.
June cared deeply for her family, and was happiest when planning a get together or a holiday with them. Besides her beloved family and friends, her interests were politics and participating in many animal rights organizations. She traveled extensively, and had a great fondness for clothes and shoes.
She is survived by her husband, John "Jack" Quinn; a daughter, Karen Larson; sons, Alan (Laurie) Larson and Donn (Trish) Larson; step-daughter, Cathy (David) Quinn-Kinney; grandchildren, Teri (Scott) Jones, Jamie (Ashley) Larson, Erik and Alex Larson, Tyler and Courtney Larson; great grandchild, Lucas Larson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and her brother, Don Herling.
Funeral services will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held at Roselawn on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
