June Padgham, age 95, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, June was always proud of her humble and loving beginnings. Salutatorian of her high school class and graduate of the Eau Claire Teacher's College, she moved to the Madison area for her first teaching job and never left.
In Madison she met Jerry Padgham, who would become her beloved husband for 62 years. Together, June and Jerry created a life filled with family, friendship, travel, and love.
June found great meaning in her career as a teacher, helping and encouraging the students whose lives she touched. She also found joy in giving her time to others. She treasured her years with Attic Angels, where she volunteered alongside dear friends and formed many special relationships. She also enjoyed her time at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, a place that brought her a deep appreciation for nature and many happy memories.
June and Jerry enjoyed traveling to many places around the world, creating memories and sharing adventures along the way. But among all the places they visited, the most special was their cabin in Manitowish Waters. It was a cherished place where they could enjoy the beauty of the Northwoods and spend time with family and friends.
June’s greatest joy, and the accomplishment of which she was most proud, was her family. She was a devoted mother to four children: Jim; Julie (Tim Tofte), Jon (Jane Kelly), and Joe (Kerri Kujak).
Her six grandchildren, Stephanie (Nico), Tricia, Beatrice, Clara, Ryan (Megan), and Kelsey brought her immense pride and happiness. She treasured each of them for who they were and took great delight in watching their lives unfold. Her joy continued with her greatgrandchildren, Carter and Nora, who held very special places in her heart.
June will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, strength, humility, and the countless ways she made the people around her feel loved.
May she rest peacefully, knowing how deeply she was loved.
Thanks to all of the people at Agrace Hospice and Waunakee Valley who cared for their "June Bug" with incredible love, compassion, and humor. You are all saints and heroes.
A private burial will take place with family, and a celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
