Judith ""Judy"" M. Sandberg

b. August 19, 1938

Judith ""Judy"" M. Sandberg, age 72, died from injuries sustained as the result of an accident at her home in 2011. She was born August 19, 1938, the daughter of William and Elaine (Kitze) Piltz in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Judy graduated from West High School in 1956, and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1960. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Sandberg October 8, 1960 in Madison. Judy was a long time employee of the VA Hospital and for many years was Supervisor of the Clinical Chemistry Department. Judy had a special interest in genealogy, and loved to cook, read and travel. Bob and Judy traveled extensively worldwide. They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a Hawaiian cruise in 2010. Judy along with Bob designed and built their home, which they were very proud of. They built their home not only once, but twice, after lightning struck their first home. Judy is survived by her brother William Piltz of Sarasota, FL, sister-in-law, Janet (Jack) Rider, Stillwater, MI, sister-in-law Cyndi Sandberg, Beaver Dam, wonderful nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and brother-in-law William Sandberg. Bob and Judy were both cremated. Their ashes have been reunited and committed to nature in many of their favorite places. There will be no formal service but friends and colleagues are encouraged to share their memories of Judy on the Cress Website. Memorial contributions may be made in Judy's name to the Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Rd., Madison, WI 53718
