Judith Mayer

MADISON - Judith A. Mayer, age 84, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Meriter Hospital. Judy was born in Madison on Jan. 17, 1934 and attended Franklin Grade School and Madison Central High School. She received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

On May 9, 1956 Judy married her grade school sweetheart, Roger Mayer, and they briefly moved to Waco, Texas while Roger completed his Air Force training. They returned to Madison where they raised three sons. In addition to her work as wife and mother she was employed for many years at CUNA Mutual.

Judy will always be remembered for her warmth, kindness and generosity. She made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed hiking, skiing, scuba diving, bicycling and traveling but had to cut back on athletic activities during the last few years. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.

She had a fun-loving nature, was never in a bad mood and always up for anything whether a long hike in the mountains, a trip to the water park with her grandchildren or opening a bottle of wine.

Judy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roger; brother, Jim Bly (Helen); sons, Jim (Stacy), Mike (Martha) and Andy; two grandsons, Mason and Cole; and ten nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Pat and Katy. In lieu of flowers, please extend an act of kindness to a friend, neighbor or stranger.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at Imperial Garden Restaurant in Middleton on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 4 PM to 6 PM.
