Judith M. Hable
Judy M. (Taugher) Hable, age 85, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, after a short illness.
Judy was born in Milwaukee, on May 20, 1940, to Norman and Jane (Urbanek) Taugher. The family moved to Madison during her childhood. She graduated from UW Madison with a degree in Dietetics. Judy was united in marriage to Allen Hable on June 16, 1962. They spent the early years of their marriage in Seattle, WA, before moving back to Madison. Judy worked as a dietician in Seattle and at Madison General Hospital, before starting her family.
Judy and Al raised their family in Buffalo Grove, IL. During this time Judy was an active member of the local garden club and enjoyed gardening and flower arranging. She and Al also lived in Green Bay and South Bend, IN, before returning to Madison in 1996. In retirement, Judy and Al traveled extensively in the US and Canada in their RV. After they went everywhere they could they traded it in for a sport at Valle del Oro in Mesa, AZ and they enjoyed winters there until 2015.
Judy also enjoyed photography, quilting, and painting. Family was everything to her. She was willing to help anyone who needed it and she will always be remembered for her holiday celebrations, good conversation, and a positive outlook on life.
Judy is survived by her brother, Richard (Marcia) Taugher; children, Diane (Darrel) Roberts and Jeff (Natalie) Hable; grandson, Jared Roberts (fiancé Lexe Brickl); nephews, Ryan (Corrine) Taugher; niece, Rebecca (Zachary) Taugher-Hebl; and, great nephew, Benjamin Hebl.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Allen Hable, and granddaughter, Samantha Roberts.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 401 South Owen Drive, Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Brian Wilk presiding. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery will follow the mass. Lunch will be provided at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church or the Textile Arts Center of Madison. As a lifelong sewist, Judy greatly enjoyed TACS’s exhibitions.
