Joyce A. Schulz

Joyce Ann Schulz, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 29, 2025. She was born on May 3, 1943, in Watertown, and was a life-long resident of Deerfield. She was the daughter of Alford “Jack” and Bernice Wedvick, and sister of Dennis Wedvick.

A graduate of Deerfield High School and Honor Graduate of The American Academy for Medical and Dental Assistants in Milwaukee, Joyce enjoyed a long dental assistant career, serving residents of Deerfield with a reassuring smile and a comforting hand hold as needed. With a zest for life, Joyce enjoyed a range of activities from softball, golf, bowling, and pheasant hunting with her husband Jim. She was also an avid Brewer's fan and seldom missed watching a game!

Joyce’s last year of life was spent at the Skaalen Nursing & Rehab Center. It became her “happy place,” which was evident in her unwavering sense of humor and laughter during her stay. Joyce’s family is grateful for the care and kindness provided by the Forest View staff.

Surviving family includes daughter Andrea Breiby (children Joey, TJ, Courtney), son Jay (Lisa) Gullixson (son Hendrix), brother Dennis (Mary) Wedvick (children Jeff (Karen) Wedvick and Brenda (Chuck) McFarland), Arne (Darlene) Schulz (Brian and Michael), Gayna Gaber, and Bev Schulz (Mathew and Sarah).

She was preceded in death by husband James Schulz, parents Bernice and Alford Wedvick, son-in-law, Dan Breiby, and brothers-in-law Dan Schulz and James Gaber.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday November 14, 2025, from 1-4pm, at Liberty Lutheran Church Ed Center, 3494 Oak Park Road, Deerfield, WI

Memorials may be made in Joyce's name to St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church or Skaalen Nursing & Rehab Center.
