Joyce Schuh

Sun Prairie- Joyce M. Schuh, beloved wife of Donald L. Schuh, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, September 2, 2022.  She passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband of 57 years by her side.

Joyce was born to Edward and Lucille Schmidt (O’Neil) on August 27, 1943, in a little white house on top of the hill in Valders, WI.  Joyce attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Clark’s Mills, WI and graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1961.

Joyce and Don were married on February 20, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clark’s Mills. They moved to the Madison area shortly thereafter.  The Lord blessed them with three children: Ellen, Donald, and Laurie.

Joyce enjoyed traveling with her husband, which took her to all 50 US States and beyond.  Among her favorite vacations were trips to Australia and New Zealand, the Galapagos Islands and other countries.  Her very favorite travels were several fishing trips to Canada in their retirement.

Together they lovingly cared for 17 foster children ranging in age from 1 day to 6 years old.  She also enjoyed crocheting and she donated many hats, baby caps, scarves and prayer shawls to hospitals and other organizations.  Her greatest love was her family.

She is survived by her husband Donald L. Schuh; her children Ellen M. Schuh, Donald E. Schuh and Laurie A. Kuether (Jay); four grandchildren, Megan Binger (Alex), Stephanie Ivan (Matthew), Nathan Kuether (Molly), and Adam Schuh; three great grandchildren, Leo Ivan, Miles and Graham Binger; her brothers Edward (Sandy) Schmidt and Danny (Patti) Schmidt; her sister Nancy (John) Klingeisen; sister-in-law Laverne Schmidt; sister-in law Bernice (Ken) Brochtrup, sister-in-law Corrine Staudinger; sister-in-law Florence (Norb) Braun; sister-in-law Germaine (Bill) Hoyer, sister-in-law Irene (John) Nenahlo; brother-in-law Edward Schuh; sister-in-law Nancy Mathes; brother-in-law Leon (Carolyn) Schuh; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Lucille Schmidt; brother Ronald Schmidt; sister Betty Jean (Chuck) Stafford; brother-in-law Harland (Gloria) Schuh; sister-in-law Alice (Jack) Maney; brother-in-law Paul Staudinger; sister-in-law Eleanor (Don) Brunig; sister-in-law Theresa Schuh; and brother-in-law Kenneth Schuh.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 9, 2022 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert the Great Drive, Sun Prairie, with Msgr. Donn Heiar presiding.  Private burial will take place in Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at church on Friday. In lieu of flowers we invite you to make a donation to your favorite charitable organization.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to those at St. Mary’s Home Health Care and Agrace Hospice Care for their love and care.
