Joyce Nolte

Madison - Joyce E. Nolte, a long-time resident of Madison, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at her home in the Jefferson Retirement Community of Middleton.

Born May 8, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN, Joyce was actively involved in The Volunteers of America in Minneapolis and Madison for many years. It was through her work with The Volunteers that she met her husband, David J. Nolte, and they were married 53 years. Joyce was active in the Opti-Mrs. Club and the Hill Farm Bowlerettes.

Joyce's biggest accomplishment was her devotion to her grateful family. She raised 5 children, loved being involved in their lives and cared deeply for her 16 grandchildren. Her love for God and her family were evident in all she did.
She is preceded in death by Ernest Gleschus (father); Gladys W. Sonnenberg Gelschus (mother); husband, David James Nolte; brothers, Erwin and Alvin; as well as Steven Gelschus, (nephew).

Joyce is survived by her sister, Ernestine Dullum of Minneapolis; her children, Gail (Tom) Bothum of Stoughton, Mark (Karen) of Mundelein, IL, Neil of Madison, Lynn (Roger) Hamilton of Colorado Springs, and Greg (Merri) of Minneapolis. Joyce is also survived by her grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Sunday, January 18, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to service.
