Burke-Joyce E. Horner, age 69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at her home. Joyce was the daughter of Lloyd & Cecilia (Sullivan) Evert. She was raised in Pewaukee. Joyce was united in marriage to Dick Horner on January 3, 1969 and together they worked at Johannson Garden Center, Pewaukee, Farmer Seed and Nursery, St. Louis, MN and co-owners of Doc Horner's Radiator Service, Madison. Additionally, she worked many years at Midwest Vet Supply. In her spare time she loved crocheting, embroidery, refinishing and reupholstering furniture, caning chairs, horseshoes, bowling, racquetball, fishing, hunting, starting her own vegetables and flowers seeds, playing cribbage and other card games, and doing body work on old cars, especially her and Dick's '37 pickup. She is survived by her husband, Richard; her daughters, Donna (Gene) Baxter, Shelley (Lynn) Lytle and Natalie (Brett) Foley; her grandchildren, Carrie Baxter, Kurt (Becky) Baxter, Kyle Baxter and Savannah Lytle; her great-grandchildren, Briana and Austin Baxter; her sister Pattie (Al) Zirbel; her brothers, Bob Evert and Tom (Sue) Evert; many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Charles, niece Tammy and her unborn daughter, Shy. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 1-3:00 p.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison.
