Joyce Caldwell

September 18, 1939 — July 25, 2014

Middleton/Sauk-Prairie. Joyce began her journey to be with her Lord on Friday, July 25, 2014, after combatting Parkinson's Disease for twenty-five years. Her positive outlook on life earned her many friends, and helped greatly as she strove to live life fully. While still in the experimental stage she braved having deep brain stimulators inserted to enhance her quality of life.
Born on September 18, 1939, the oldest child of the late Lyall and Gertrude (Eggum) Caldwell, her childhood was spent on the rich farmland of the Arlington Prairie.
One of Joyce's favorite activities was traveling and she was pleased to have traveled to all 50 states. She enjoyed the company of others: in active ways like dancing or bowling in her youth or more recently card games or Scrabble.
Joyce earned her Associate's degree from (the former) MATC and became an insurance underwriter.
Left behind to cherish the memories of happy times are: Her son, Clarey Busse (Mazomanie), and daughters Susan (Allan) Betcher (Luray, VA), and Lisa (Michael) Henriksen (St. Charles, IL), her grandchildren Nathan Betcher (fianc, Heather Hussain), Amy Betcher, Tyler Henriksen and Kylie Henriksen, her brother James (Julie) Caldwell and sister Judy (Robert) Hughes plus her nieces and nephews.
She served as the council secretary, LCW officer, and SCS teacher for St. John's Lutheran in Prairie du Sac and most recently has enjoyed the beautiful music offered during worship at St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
Joyce has been blessed by the kind, adept care given by Selenge Dovdon, who proved much assistance and encouragement.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 7337 Hubbard Av, Middleton with Pastor Roger Eigenfeld officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:3 until the time of the service at 11:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Middleton Outreach Ministry, 3502 Parmenter St., Middleton, WI 53562, or the UW Foundation - Parkinson's Research, 1848 University Ave. Madison, WI 53726.
Joyce could sweep away the clouds and make sunshine with her positive slant on life.
