Joseph Courter

Sun Prairie - Joseph Arthur Courter, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and forever soldier, passed away June 6, 2015 at William Middleton V.A. Hospital.

Joe was born on May 1, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Merle and Dollie (Jordan) Courter. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving in Korea, Vietnam, and Europe. He was a member of the DAV, VFW, and American Legion. He volunteered at the William Middleton V.A. Hospital for over 23 years as a DAV Chaplain.

Joe is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Carolyn (Duane) Johnson; grandchildren, Benjamin and Angela; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Catalina, Jacoby and Jade; brothers, Leo (Mary Esther) and Jerry (Caren); sisters, Rosemary (Roger) Anderson and Helen Sims; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Frank, Samuel and Patrick.

A funeral service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and caregivers at Tomah V.A. and William Middleton V.A. Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Joe.
