Joseph Patrick Burke

Madison-Joseph ""Joe"" Patrick Burke, age 71, of Madison, passed away on Wed. Feb. 9, 2011 of Sarcoidosis at Meriter Hospital.   He was born on Jan.13, 1940 to Thomas and Ruth (Donovan) Burke in Madison. He attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Grade School, Edgewood High School and the University of Wisconsin. He volunteered for the draft and was a member of The US Army Security Agency from 1962-1964. Joe worked for Aetna Casualty Insurance Company and retired in 1994. Joe was a member of St. James Catholic Church.   Joseph is survived by sisters, Ruth Church of Batavia, IL, Ellen Burke of Madison, WI, Margaret Pachter of Berwyn, IL, brothers, Thomas Burke of Seymour, WI, and Michael Burke of Madison, WI and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Gerald Stephen Burke and brother-in-law Skip Church.   A Funeral Service will be held at Cress Funeral Home on Feb.12, 2011 at 12 noon with Msgr. Thomas Baxter presiding. A visitation will take place from 10am until the time of service. Memorials may be made to Dane County Humane Society.
